Neptune uses the same library, profile, playback engine, and preferences on
Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad. Its touch interface also connects Neptune to
iOS-owned surfaces such as Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, and Live
Activities, and it can continue video or audio after you leave the app.
| Page | Description |
|---|---|
| Pins | Create and use native library bookmarks on iPhone and iPad |
| Widgets | Configure a Page, dynamic Section, or native Pin for each Home Screen or Lock Screen widget |
| Live Activity | Put the iPhone Compass in Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen |
| Picture in Picture & Background Playback | Keep video floating or audio playing when Neptune leaves the foreground |
| Backdrops | Choose how widescreen artwork is fitted to an upright screen, or place an image by hand |
The word “shortcut” covers three intentionally separate features:
| Feature | Devices | What It Stores | Where You Configure It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native Pins | iPhone, iPad, Apple TV | Bookmarks for media, people, and library browse contexts | Pin or unpin the item where it appears in Neptune |
| Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets | iPhone and iPad | One Page, Section, or native Pin selection per widget instance | Add the widget in iOS, then choose Edit Widget |
| Compass Shortcuts | iPhone | One to eight quick actions shared by the in-app Compass and Compass Live Activity | Settings > User Preferences > Compass > Compass Shortcuts |
Native Pins are not the same list as Compass Shortcuts. A conventional widget
also does not mirror the Compass: every widget instance has its own selection.
