Neptune runs on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Install it on as many devices as you like; your account, preferences, and watch state carry across all of them.
| Device | Minimum |
|---|---|
| Apple TV | Apple TV 4K, tvOS 18.5 or later |
| iPhone / iPad | iOS or iPadOS 16 or later |
| Mac | TBD |
| Media server | Jellyfin 10.10 or later (currently supported) |
Neptune's app experience is backend-agnostic. Jellyfin is the available backend today; Plex and Emby are planned, with additional backends to be determined.
Neptune for Apple TV is on the App Store:
Neptune for iPhone and iPad hasn't reached the App Store yet. While a platform is unreleased, its beta is open to everyone through TestFlight, and access is managed through the Neptune Discord server.
Accept the TestFlight invitation once, then install Neptune from the TestFlight app on each device. If you don't already have TestFlight installed, you can search for it on the App Store and install it from there.
Beta builds run on App Store test purchases. Upgrading to Pro inside a beta is free and nothing is ever charged. Test purchases stay in the beta: when a platform reaches the App Store, they don't carry over, and continuing with Pro there means buying it for real.
TBD.
The beta program has two roles, and they mean different things depending on whether a platform has launched:
Passengers test platforms that haven't reached the App Store yet. Anyone can board through the Discord flow above. Right now that's iPhone and iPad. When a platform launches, its public beta ends and testers move to the App Store version.
Pilots fly ahead of the App Store: preview builds of released platforms before everyone else gets them. Pilot access is a benefit of Neptune Pro's Lifetime tier. Select Join Pilot Program inside Neptune, confirm the email address you use with TestFlight, and your Lifetime purchase is verified automatically. This feature is still pending some backend updates from Apple before being made available.
One quirk to know: TestFlight builds can't see App Store purchases, so inside a Pilot build you activate Pro with a free test purchase. Your real Lifetime purchase stays untouched and keeps working in the App Store version.
Once installed, Neptune walks you through setup on every device.
See Setup for detailed instructions, and Devices for what to expect on each screen.
