Compass

Compass is Neptune’s quick-navigation surface. On Apple TV it is a floating
pill opened by the Siri Remote. On iPhone it is a configurable palette that
can also appear as a Live Activity in Dynamic Island and
on the Lock Screen.

Compass is unavailable on iPad. iPhone and Apple TV use platform-specific
controls and do not share the same Compass layout.

Apple TV Compass

Press the Play/Pause button on your Siri Remote to open the Compass. A pill-shaped overlay appears in the center of the screen showing your tabs as icons.

Action Control
Open Compass Play/Pause button
Navigate between tabs Swipe left or right
Switch to selected tab Press Touch Surface
Close without switching Play/Pause or Menu button

Your current tab is highlighted with the accent color. When the Compass opens, focus starts on your current tab.

Search from Anywhere

The Compass includes a search shortcut. Selecting it opens a full-screen keyboard where you can type or dictate, and Neptune jumps to the Search tab with your results.

When to Use It

The Compass is especially useful when you're:

Instead of pressing Menu multiple times or scrolling up to the tab bar, one press of Play/Pause gives you direct access to any tab.

iPhone Compass

Hold exactly two fingers for 0.6 seconds anywhere in the authenticated iPhone
app to open the adaptive Compass palette. The gesture works in portrait,
landscape, and drill-down screens.

You can also open a labelled preview from Settings > User Preferences >
Compass
. Enabling the separate Compass Live Activity adds system-owned entry
points:

Entry Point What It Does
Compact or minimal Dynamic Island Opens the full in-app palette
Expanded Dynamic Island Shows the configured shortcuts as direct actions
Lock Screen Live Activity Shows the shortcut strip plus a palette launcher

See Compass Live Activity for setup, lifecycle, and
troubleshooting.

Compass Shortcuts on iPhone

The iPhone palette and Live Activity use the same ordered set of one to eight
Compass Shortcuts. Configure them under Settings > User Preferences >
Compass > Compass Shortcuts
.

The exact defaults are Settings, Home, Library, Search. A shortcut can
open another Neptune Page, one library, a saved search, media details, or
supported direct playback. Labels, symbols, and order are customizable.

Compass Shortcuts are not native Pins. Native Pins bookmark
library content and appear in Neptune’s content rows; Compass Shortcuts are
quick actions used only by the iPhone Compass surfaces.

Video Playback

Compass does not open during video playback:

Exit the player before opening Compass.
