Neptune AI with Pro ¶

Neptune Pro includes Neptune AI, the bespoke first-party intelligence system developed alongside Neptune's features. It is ready without an API key, local server, endpoint, or model selection.

Neptune AI currently powers natural-language Search, Episode Finder, Title Insights, and Person Insights, with a first-party foundation that can expand into other parts of Neptune.

What Pro Unlocks ¶

Pro unlocks the hosted Neptune AI provider, not the idea of AI features themselves. Free users can connect Ollama, Gemini, or OpenRouter, but they supply and maintain the model, compute, endpoint, or API account.

Neptune AI adds:

• A model system trained and tuned specifically for Neptune's media workflows and structured feature behavior
• First-party integration with Neptune's grounding, verification, confidence, and native result presentation
• Neptune's intelligent query cache for common and closely related searches
• Immediate availability across supported Neptune devices after Pro is restored

Integrated by Design ¶

Neptune AI and the app can evolve as one system. A feature can introduce a purpose-built grounding source, validation step, or structured response rather than asking a generic chatbot to improvise an answer. Neptune AI is developed alongside the core app, making the pair work better than any third-party provider ever could.

Bring-your-own providers remain useful for local-only inference or direct model control. They can stay enabled as fallbacks behind Neptune AI—or lead the priority list with Neptune AI ready when a local machine is offline.
